but here is our week in review:
Science- We continue in our Force and Motion unit, with the students completing their investigations. This week we will finish off the unit with additional hands on experiences and an assessment next Monday.
Math- Last week we continued our unit on Fractions, working on POD's A grade was taken on the Danny and Ivan POD wiith a rubric. If your student had a grade below 70 it was sent home to make corrections by Wednesday. We will complete our unit on Fractions this week with an assessment on Thursday.
Writing- We took our STAAR Ready on Tuesday and we are making corrections to it. We also began reviewing the writing process with their compositions from the STAAR Ready. Last week we focused on their plans, which are in their Writing Notebooks if you would like to see them. This week we will focus on expanding our main ideas with adding details as well as completing our grammar corrections.
Reading- We have been studying Traditional Literature and discussing Folktales this week. Last week we focused on plot and summarizing using the SWBST (somebody/wanted/but/so/then) strategy and using sticky notes to complete a reading response for a grade. This week we will began discussing tricksters and character analysis.
SS- We completed Chapter 6, Lesson 2 last week and answered 8 questions throughout the week over those pages. They were taken for a grade today and given back to your student. If your student received below a 70, they should make corrections and turn back in by Wednesday. This week we will have a counselor visit and continue to discuss Sam Houston and other historical figures who helped shape Texas.
