Science- We have been working on Force and Motion. The students have had some hands on experience with creating their own experiments using force and motion. Today they completed a packet designing their experiment for a grade.
Math- We have continued our unit on Fractions and have worked on POD's (problem of the day) comparing fractions and decomposing fractions. Today's POD (Jennifer/Ryan) was taken for a grade with a rubric. If your student had a grade below 70 it was sent home to make corrections by Monday.
Writing- We practiced with an Expository piece this week, taking it through the entire writing process and was due today. I will review them over the weekend and conference with your students on Monday so they have a better understanding of the process for our STAAR Ready on Tuesday. This is a practice test given by the district that mirrors the actual STAAR which will be in March. There were a few students who did not finish and it should have come home to be completed by Monday. We also read a passage and reviewed grammar skills.
Reading- We have been studying Traditional Literature and discussing Folktales this week. We went to the library for a lesson involving a folktale as well. Part of that discussion we reviewing using a plot mountain for a better understanding of the a story. We will take a grade on using that strategy next week.
SS- We read Chapter 6, Lesson 1 this week and answered 10 questions throughout the week over those pages. They were taken for a grade today and given back to your student. If your student received below a 70, they should make corrections and turn back in on Monday. You can access the e-textbook from our school website. Your students also have their login information in their agenda on a sticker in the front.
